Life
Everyone aims to have a good future in life. Few, however, think beyond their present life. The Bible tells us about eternal life and how we can receive it.
WHAT LIFE CAN BE
"Everything is meaningless," says the Teacher, "utterly meaningless!" What do people get for all their hard work? Generations come and go, but nothing really changes. (Ecclesiastes 1:2-4)
1. How did the Philosopher in Ecclesiastes 1:2-4 describe life in this world?
"How do you know what will happen tomorrow? For your life is like the morning fog -- it's here a little while, then it's gone." (James 4:14)
2. How does James 4:14 describe our present life?
3. What does God want for your life (according to the following passages)?
John 10:10 - Jesus said, "The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness."
John 3:16 - Jesus said, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life."
ETERNAL LIFE IS KNOWING GOD THROUGH HIS SON, JESUS, AND HAVING A PERMANENT LIVING RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM.
SOURCE OF ETERNAL LIFE
Jesus said, "I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. So no one can take them from me. " (John 10:28-29)
4. Who can give eternal life?
Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. " (John 14:6)
5. Some believe that there are many ways to God. Instead what did Jesus say?
"Christ also suffered when he died for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners that he might bring us safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit." (1 Peter 3:18)
6. Why could Jesus claim to be the only way to God
"God saved you by his special favour when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it." (Ephesians 2:8-9)
7. Eternal life is God's gift to us through Jesus Christ and not as a result of what?

HOW TO RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE
"I have had one message for Jews and Gentiles alike -- the necessity of turning from sin and turning to God, and of faith in our Lord Jesus. " (Acts 20:21)
8. According to Acts 20:21, which two things must we do to receive eternal life?
TO TURN FROM YOUR SINS TO GOD IS TO TURN FROM FOLLOWING YOU OWN SINFUL DESIRES IN ORDER TO FOLLOW GOD'S DESIRES AND OBEY WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS.
"And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 So whoever has God's Son has life; whoever does not have his Son does not have life. " (1 John 5:11-12)
According to 1 John 5:11-12...
9. Who are those who have eternal life?
10. Who are those who do not have eternal life?
11. Do YOU have eternal life? Why or why not?
"And all who believe in God's Son have eternal life. Those who don't obey the Son will never experience eternal life, but the wrath of God remains upon them." (John 3:36)
12. What does Jesus say about those who believe in Him?
13. What does Jesus say about those who do not believe in Him?

Jesus said, "You search the Scriptures because you believe they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me! Yet you refuse to come to me so that I can give you this eternal life." (John 5:39-40)
14. What and who can prevent you from receiving eternal life?
SUMMARY
-
All people sin and do not meet the standards of living that God requires. Sin leads to separation from God and ultimately death.
-
But God demonstrated His love for us in that while we were still sinners He provided a way for us to receive life. Jesus died as a sacrifice (in our place) for our sin. God was in Christ reconciling people to Himself.
-
In order to receive God's forgiveness and eternal life, you must trust in Jesus - His perfect life, His death and His resurrection from the dead.
"To all who receive Him, to all who believe in His Name - God gives the right to become children of God."
The Name of Jesus means, "God saves".
If you want to become a follower of Jesus and experience God's salvation, step one is to seek God through prayer and ask for His forgiveness. Here is a simple prayer that can help you do that:

Lord God, I know that I am a sinner and am not able to make myself better. Jesus, I believe that You are God's Son, that You died to pay the price for MY sin. I believe You rose again from the dead and are alive to this very day. Please forgive my sins and make me a new creation, so that I will be a child of God. I surrender my life to You as my Saviour and my Lord. Thank You! I believe in Your salvation and receive Your forgiveness and new life. Amen.
If you prayed this prayer out of a heart and mind that believes Jesus died for you, you are a part of God's family. God wants us to be together as brothers and sisters in Christ. The Bible says we are all "members of one body". So we need each other to grow in our walk with the Lord, just as a baby needs help learning to eat and walk and talk.
